Acclaimed actor Robert McNamara, founder of SCENA Theatre in Washington, DC, will present two rare guest performances of Report to an Academy, adapted from Franz Kafka’s 1917 short story. Kafka’s tale follows Red Peter, an intelligent ape captured in West Africa and brought to Europe. To survive, he mimics human behavior and eventually shares his transformation with a scientific academy. McNamara’s powerful performance brings the parable to life, sparking reflection on identity, racism, colonization, and survival—making this century-old story strikingly relevant to today’s social and political realities.
